Privacy Policy

Fearside Stories ("the Game", "we", "us") is an interactive horror game. This policy explains what information the Game and this website handle. The short version: there are no accounts and we never ask who you are. The Game sends anonymous gameplay statistics so we can see where the story works and where it doesn't, and purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not sell any data and we do not show ads.
1. Information we do not collect
The Game has no accounts, no login, and no user profiles. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location. We do not use the advertising identifier, we do not use advertising networks, and we do not sell or share any data with data brokers.
2. Information stored on your own device
To let you continue where you left off, the Game saves a small amount of data locally on your device. This includes:
- your progress through the story and the choices you have made;
- your settings, such as the interface language and audio preferences;
- whether you have unlocked the full story.
You can erase it at any time by clearing the app's storage, uninstalling the Game, or clearing your browser data for the web version.
2a. Anonymous gameplay statistics
The Game uses Google Analytics for Firebase to record how the story is played, so we can find the parts that are confusing, too slow, too hard or not scary enough, and fix them. It records events such as: which scenes you reach and how long they stay on screen, which choices you make and how long you take, how mini-games go, where in the story you pause or stop, chapter progress, and whether the paywall was shown or a purchase completed.
These events are tied to a random identifier created by Firebase for your installation of the Game — not to your name, email, or advertising identifier. Google also receives standard technical information such as device model, operating-system version, app version, and an approximate region derived from your IP address. We use this information only in aggregate to improve the Game; it is not used for advertising or tracking across other apps or websites. It is processed by Google as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation, and kept for a limited period under Google Analytics' data-retention settings. You can reset the identifier at any time by reinstalling the Game or clearing its data.
2b. Purchases
Unlocking the full story is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. The store tells the Game only that the purchase was completed, so the unlock can be saved on your device and restored on your other devices; refunds are handled by the store under its own policies.
3. Store reviews
The Game may invite you to rate it. If you choose to leave a review, that interaction is handled entirely by your device's app store (for example Apple's App Store or Google Play) under their own privacy policies. We do not receive any personal information from this process.
4. This website
This website is served through Firebase Hosting, a service provided by Google. Like virtually all web hosting, Firebase automatically records standard technical request information — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested — in server logs for security and reliability purposes. This is handled by Google as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and the Google Privacy Policy. This website itself sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The browser version of the Game may record the anonymous gameplay statistics described in section 2a.
5. Children
The Game contains horror themes and is intended for a general mature audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
6. Your rights
We do not hold any information that identifies you by name. The gameplay statistics in section 2a are linked only to a random installation identifier; reinstalling the Game or clearing its data starts a new one. If you would like us to delete the statistics for your installation, or have questions about your rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, contact us using the details below.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Game after a change means you accept the updated policy.
