These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Fearside Stories game and this website (together, the "Game"). By playing the Game or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Game.
1. Licence to play
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the Game for your own private, non-commercial entertainment. This licence does not transfer any ownership of the Game to you.
2. Intellectual property
The Game and all of its content — including its story, characters, dialogue, artwork, imagery, audio, code, logos, and the "Fearside Stories" and "Wintermouth" names — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Game except as expressly permitted by law.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Game for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the Game or its servers;
- remove, obscure, or alter any copyright or proprietary notices;
- republish or redistribute the Game's content as your own.
4. Fictional content
The Game is a work of fiction and contains horror themes, including depictions of peril and death. All characters, events, organisations, and locations are imaginary; any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or to actual events is entirely coincidental. The content is intended for a mature audience.
5. Availability
The Game is currently offered as a free demo and is provided "as is". We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Game — or any of its features — at any time and without notice. We do not guarantee that the Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
6. Third-party services
The Game may be distributed through, or link to, third-party platforms such as app stores and web hosting. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies, for which we are not responsible.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Game is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Game.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Game after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
